Plans for Planning Permits. Councils and statutory authorities often require landscape plans to be submitted and approved for a wide variety of projects and developments. These can range from simple 2-3 unit developments and dual-occupancies, through to broad-scale subdivisions, industrial and commercial developments. The type of plan and level of detail required varies depending on the project type and complexity, and the authority requiring the landscape plan. Landscape plans for permits / approvals are prepared with a knowledge of the requirements and processes of council or the authority requiring the plans. It is important to provide the right amount of detail and design refinement to satisfy the authority, without over-committing the client. Co-ordination and communication with authorities, and other consultants such as engineers, architects, surveyors and arborists is also an important part of the landscape design. Plans prepared for permits /
approvals are typically detailed black and white drawings at A1 size. Contents vary from project to project, and will often include: Details of elements, surfaces, finishes and edging. Planting information, setout, plant schedules and installation details, including all plant species, quantities and install sizes. Additional details as required including fencing, paving, retaining walls, steps, balustrades, etc. Maintenance and establishment information. Permeable area calculations.
